On the evening of December 30, the “UBERTY”, a vessel retrofitted with desulfurization technology by Zhejiang Energy Marine Environmental Technology Co., Ltd. (ZEME), successfully departed from the No. 2 dock of Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Group Longxing Island Shipyard Co., Ltd., completing all sea trial projects. This marked the successful delivery of the 200th vessel desulfurization project for ZEME in 2023, setting another historical high for annual deliveries.
In 2023, ZEME worked tirelessly, shouldering responsibilities, and constantly pushing boundaries to meet deadlines and serve shipowners. Throughout the year, the company signed over 200 new vessel scrubber orders, with up to 30 vessel scrubber projects installed simultaneously, setting new records for both the number of projects in progress and deliveries within the same period.
Over the past year, ZEME expanded its global service network. In 2023, building upon existing installation bases in Asia, Turkey, Oman, and the UAE, the company established cooperation with Italian shipyard NMN to provide total package services for the WEC series of container vessels owned by a well-known shipowner operating in European waters. These projects utilized open tower/hybrid desulfurization scrubber towers, with all prefabricated modules shipped from China according to the vessels' sailing schedules. This approach significantly reduced installation materials and shortened the installation period in the shipyard, effectively lowering the investment costs for shipowners and further shortening the payback period for their desulfurization scrubber tower investments.
Moreover, ZEME advanced technological innovation and digital reform. Building upon its steady progress in providing total package services for vessel desulfurization, the company innovatively launched an "energy-saving and emission reduction" package solution. This included a range of products such as carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS), AMP systems, wind shields, and shaft generators, positioning itself as an expert in dual-fuel vessel modifications. The company has reached agreements with major international container, tanker, and bulk carrier owners to provide comprehensive green decarbonization total package services for their fleets under the backdrop of carbon reduction.
A fresh start brings new opportunities, and the New Year marks a new beginning. With the support of numerous partners, ZEME achieved outstanding results in 2023. In 2024, the company will build on this momentum, working together with partners to create a path of mutual benefit and win-win cooperation, shaping a new pattern for enterprise development.
