Zhejiang Energy Group: Navigating Oceans to Empower the "Sweet Potato Economy" and Enhance Capabilities
2287

Zhejiang Energy Group's subsidiary, Zhejiang Energy Marine Environmental Technology Co., Ltd. (ZEME), recently completed the desulfurization modification of the CMA CGM MUMBAI container vessel in Zhoushan, Zhejiang province. The vessel successfully completed sea trials and was handed over to Germany's Hapag-Lloyd for operation. This marked the 80th ship set of desulfurization modifications (new builds) completed by ZEME this year, setting a new record.

This achievement is a reflection of Zhejiang Energy Group's active service to Zhejiang province's "sweet potato economy" initiative, aimed at enhancing the level of openness. In recent years, the group has been closely monitoring domestic and international energy markets, seizing opportunities presented by the global energy transition. It has been actively practicing the Belt and Road Initiative and the "Four Revolutions, One Cooperation" energy security strategy, adhering to the principle of "going out" and "bringing in," engaging in international energy cooperation, and strengthening the "sweet potato economy" to achieve "bidirectional empowerment."

Zhejiang Energy Group's technical personnel recently traveled over 4,000 kilometers to the Morowali Industrial Zone in Indonesia to provide half-a-year of technical services for the construction of six 380 MW coal-fired power plants. Meanwhile, another batch of the group's technical personnel are conducting business and technical negotiations with OPTIMA in Greece regarding ship desulfurization.

Over the past five months, Zhejiang Energy Group, leveraging its core environmental technologies, has accelerated its efforts to capture the global environmental governance market. Its business and technical teams have visited eight countries and regions, connecting with over 60 clients, aggressively expanding markets and securing orders, accumulating overseas environmental engineering orders worth over $400 million. To date, the group has completed over 200 ship environmental and energy-saving modification projects globally, holding over 300 ship sets of orders, with cumulative overseas orders exceeding $1 billion, accounting for over 30% of the global market.

Through "Borrow a boat to go to Sea" and "Go to sea by oneself", Zhejiang Energy Group is expanding its economic reach while relying on the policy opportunities brought about by the "Number One Openness Project" to continuously bring benefits back to support provincial development.

"Every desulfurization modification order we receive overseas drives employment in the entire domestic industrial chain, including design, production, manufacturing, and installation. It is estimated that a single ship's desulfurization modification creates job opportunities for about 80 people in society," said Wang Ru'neng, the head of Zhejiang Energy Group's ship desulfurization business.

At the same time, Zhejiang Energy Group is responding positively to global energy transition trends, seizing strategic opportunities, and strengthening global energy resource allocation to complement domestic needs, striving to provide safer, more stable, and cleaner energy services to us
